Wooden cottage accommodation

Fully equipped cottages, with 12 persons to accommodate and 9 beds (3 apartments and one double room) give you an opportunity for comfortable long stay. Every cottage has a private bathroom with a shower bath, tiny kitchen with a refrigerator, a terrace and all conditions for a peaceful vacation away from urban centers. Central heating system and air conditioners give you a chance for yearlong visits. There is no TV in the cottages but we do have radios with CD players.

Our household is far away enough from the busy roads and other houses, so if you are not listening to music, you can completely relax in the peaceful atmosphere of the Serbian village. Close to the cottages, there are enough parking places for our guests. Despite some cars, there is no other source of aero pollution in the nearby vicinity. Smoking in the cottages is not permitted. Water in all taps in the household is for drinking. Existence of the European crayfish is a proof of the cleanliness of water in the river Lopatnica which flows through our household. Free Wi-Fi internet connection available at the restaurant and some cottages. We plan to expand the capacity and we do cooperate with other farm-stays and rural accommodation when larger groups are coming.

Homemade specialties of Serbian kitchen

Our host Darinka prepares local specialties of Serbian food according to traditional recipes. Food is served at the restaurant with a capacity of 30 indoor places and up to 50 places at the terrace. Fruits and vegetables are mainly from our own garden. We dry and smoke meat, make traditional Serbian drink rakija (Slivovitz), ajvar and other jar products like cucumbers, paprika or sauerkraut and, if you would like to learn how it is made, we will help you with it. It is possible to organize business lunch, children’s birthday or other small celebrations.

On the menu we offer mainly national Serbian cuisine products such as: cabbage, beans, sarma (cabbage rolls), goulash, different kinds of a stews and soups, lamb or veal in the earth oven, fried trout fish, roasted lamb or a pig, barbecue, cheese pie, proja (corn muffins), kacamak (maize porridge), smoked meat, kajmak (milk product), seasonal salads from our garden (cabbage, cucumber, tomato, potato, onion, garlic), homemade juice, sweet pie and strudel, sweetspoon, honey, etc. Our village is well known after one of the oldest active taverns in Serbia, ”Kod Mira”, whose inheritors are persistent in satisfying the sophisticated gastronomic tastes and requests of guests from different cultural regions of the world.

The Valley of the Serbian kings

The Valley of the Serbian kings is also known as The Valley of Lilac, after a romantic legend from a medieval time when Serbian king Uros I was planting lilacs along the Ibar river gorge to impress his new wife. This area keeps UNESCO world heritage sites, monasteries from 12^th and 13^th century, endowments of Serbian kings. Ethno village Bogut is located between monasteries Zica (20 km) and Studenica (43 km) and just 8 km away from the Maglic castle, one of the best preserved medieval castles in Serbia. Please, bare in mind that bridge across Ibar river close to the castle is forbidden to cross by local authority, and that you are crossing it on your own responsibility. One day trip can take you to the monasteries like Kalenic, Ljubostinja, Lazarica in Krusevac, or other way to Gradac, Stara Pavlica and Nova Pavlica church, Koncul, Church of St. Peter and Paul in Novi Pazar or Djurdjevi Stupovi and Sopocani. Don’t miss the chance to visit the Hermitage of Saint Sava which can be reached by a hike, by steep 3 km long hiking trail in one direction. Around the Kopaonik mountain, there are many mineral spas with hot mineral water. In our vicinity there are two of those which are partly working like Bogutovac Spa, Matarsuka Spa or Josanicka Spa wihich is recently reconstructed, but still with small capacities. The one worth visiting is definitely Vrnjacka Spa, as the most visited spa in Serbia.

There are a few interesting events held in our vicinity. The most famous one is ”Veseli spust”, held in July, when over 10 thousand people meet at Ibar river with improvised rafts, with music, food and drinks on the boats and floats. Maglic Fest is a new event which is growing rapidly and attracting more and more people every year in May to visit Maglic castle. One of the most popular events in Serbia is Guca festival, held in Guca town, just 50 km away from our village. May is also reserved for the traditional event of Mountaineering Association of Serbia at Stolovi Mountain. On this day, hikers from all over Serbia join hiking to the highest peak of Stolovi mountain where wild horses live freely. Dates of those events are flexible, so it is advisable to check it before you decide to go.

Ethno village Bogut offers winter vacation as well. Snowshoeing and sledding is something that everybody likes. When you return to the warm cottage after a busy day in the snow, tasty food and dent of the river is all you need when you are on a family trip.

Eco tourism: hiking, rafting, MTB, cycling, tandem paragliding

If you are a nature lover and you enjoy active vacations or you support sustainable and eco-tourism development, Bogutovac village is a perfect choice for you. The view from our terrace overlooks the forested mountain of Troglav, named after ancient Slavic god. It is dominant from above the village, and there are many possibilities/directions to climb its highest peak. Try with this track which goes from our place (19 km, 1144 total ascent). If you prefer shorter hikes, there are many options for that as well. We are surrounded by mountains which are protected by the government as nature parks which have perfect terrains for hiking, mountain biking, mushroom hunting and collecting herbal teas and other wild fruit products. We highly suggest you to visit Lojanik – unique petrified forest site (location).

Ibar river flows through our village and it is perfect for rafting, favorite summer activity as our guests say. Rafting in Ibar is perfect for most visitors, families, rafting beginners and experienced rafters alike. Ibar is wild in a couple of rapids (max. Class III rapids according to IRF) where it provides great opportunities for extreme athletes on the water, but it also offers a relaxing and idyllic boating with moderate rapids, for those who are not so adventurous. The rafting itself lasts from 2,5 to 3 hours, depending on the water altitude, length of breaks and the chosen route. There is enough time for playing, swimming and taking photos as well, on shingle beaches and other places that are convenient for rest. We mentioned Lopatnica river earlier as a left contributory of Ibar river, having the spring at the Cemerno mountain. This river is the main resource of our village and it flows through our household. European crayfish and trout fish in this river are the proof of the extraordinary quality of its water. There are many artificial and natural pools along its valley, available for public use. We prefer to swim in the pool which we make together with our neighbors every year within our household.

Paragliding is one of the most accessible and safest forms of free flight. Our village was a venue for the first flights, trainings and competitions in Serbia in 80ies. It is a part of our offer and you can easily do it. Good health conditions and solid decision on flying are the main preconditions. Our provider has a team of pilots led by a trophy paragliding sportsman, long time competitor and a member of a national team at the paragliding accuracy championship. Depending on the direction of a wind, the pilot, your flying instructor chooses a departure place and a flying route. There are several interesting locations on Stolovi and Kopaonik mountain from where paragliders often take off and fly throughout the year.
